Privacy Policy
Welcome to maku.fun. This website is a hobby project featuring simple web games, interactive experiments, and creative tools. We believe in keeping things simple and honest: we do not collect personal identity information unless you choose to give it to us, we do not have user accounts, and we do not sell your data.
What We Collect
We do not automatically collect personally identifiable information such as your name, phone number, or mailing address.
Newsletter / Email Subscriptions (optional)
If we offer a newsletter or subscription feature, you may choose to provide your email address so we can send updates about maku.fun, such as new games, experiments, or site improvements.
From time to time, these emails may also include occasional sponsored or promotional content that helps support the project. We try to keep this limited and relevant.
Providing your email is voluntary, and you can unsubscribe at any time using the link included in our emails. We do not sell subscriber email addresses to third parties.
Nicknames for Public Features (optional)
Some features (such as leaderboards or public scoreboards) may allow you to submit a nickname. That nickname and related game statistics may be stored on our servers and displayed publicly. Please do not use your real name or any sensitive information as your nickname.
Analytics & Cookies
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site and to improve our content. Analytics provides aggregated, non-personal usage statistics (for example, which pages are visited and approximate region such as country or city).
In regions where privacy laws require prior consent (such as the EU/EEA/UK), analytics runs only if you choose to allow it through our cookie banner.
In other regions, analytics may run by default, and you can still disable cookies through your browser settings at any time.
The site continues to work even if analytics is disabled.
Google Analytics on this site is used for general usage statistics, not to build individual user profiles.
For more information about how Google handles analytics data, visit: https://policies.google.com/privacy
Local Storage & Server Data
Local storage: Most game progress, preferences, and experiment settings are stored locally on your device and are never sent to our servers.
Server storage (public features): If you participate in features such as leaderboards, the nickname and score you submit may be stored on our servers and displayed publicly. We do not link this information to any real-world identity.
Donations and Payments (Buy Me a Coffee, etc.)
If you choose to support the site through a donation platform, the payment is processed entirely by that third-party service. We do not receive or store your credit card, banking, or payment-method details.
Any personal information you share with the payment provider is handled according to their privacy policy.
Hosting & Infrastructure
This site is hosted by a reputable third-party provider that may collect minimal technical logs (such as error logs or performance metrics) solely for the purpose of operating the service securely. This is standard practice across most websites.
In the future, certain features may require temporarily storing limited technical or gameplay-related data on our servers to operate the site. If we ever begin collecting additional personal information, this policy will be updated before those features go live.
Children’s Privacy
maku.fun is a general-audience website and is not specifically directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because we do not operate user accounts, we do not have a way to personally identify visitors. Parents may clear cookies or local storage if they have concerns about a child’s use of the site.
Security
We do not store passwords or payment details on our servers. We use HTTPS and reasonable industry practices to help protect the site, but no website can guarantee absolute security.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the site grows or legal requirements change. Updated versions will always be posted on this page with a revised date.
